Set in the heart of Oamaru, yet right beside the endless Pacific Ocean, Sundale brings together the convenience of town, the tranquillity of the coast, and the unique historic character of Oamaru. Here, where you stay becomes part of the journey.

10 simple and comfortable Cabin Pods, where you can enjoy the freedom of simple living. 10 classic caravans filled with character and history, for a little journey back in time. Or bring your own campervan, caravan or tent, find your place by the sea, and fall asleep to the sound of the waves and dream of the journey ahead.

Wake with the sunrise over the Pacific. Wander through Oamaru's Victorian streets, explore its history, marine wildlife and the beauty of the Otago coastline, then meet the charming little blue penguins at dusk. At the end of the day, return to Sundale and simply slow down by the sea.

We don't set out to be luxurious. Sundale is about something simpler: comfortable, affordable and full of character, with an experience to remember.

Common questions.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3:00pm for accommodation and from 2:00pm for camp sites. Check-out is by 10 AM. Arriving late? Let us know and we will arrange after-hours access so you can settle straight in.

Are pets welcome at Sundale?

Dogs are welcome on Camp Sites and in the Caravan Retreat, on lead inside the park. Mora Motels, Ata Studios, LUMI Pods, Maru Cabins, Nordic Village and Arch Boats are dog-free for guests with allergies.

Do you have powered sites for campervans and caravans?

We do. Our powered Camp Sites suit campervans, caravans and motorhomes, with level ground, full hook-up and a dump station on site.
