The place
Same Ground. A New Chapter.
Just five minutes from Lake Wānaka, surrounded by mountains, open lawns and golden trees, there is a place where life seems to slow down all by itself.
Mornings begin with soft light over the Southern Alps. Days are shaped by the lake, the mountains and the changing seasons. In the evening, it is an easy walk home from town. There is something about this place. Before you have done anything at all, you already feel like you are on holiday.
For decades, this land welcomed travellers, families and campers from around the world as Mt Aspiring Holiday Park. We value that history, and the simple, genuine Kiwi hospitality that has always belonged here.
A new chapter
Now, a new chapter is beginning.
As Sundale Holiday Park & Retreat — Wānaka, we are gently reimagining what a holiday park can be. Caravans, cabins, studios, motels and camping each offer a different way to stay: some simple, some more comfortable, some a little unexpected, but all connected by the same landscape.
Season by season, we are adding new places to stay, improving shared spaces and creating experiences that sit more naturally within their surroundings. We believe good design does not need to compete with nature. It can be lighter, thoughtful and quietly become part of the landscape.
The name Sundale means something to us. It is our valley of sunshine, not only because of the light that falls across this place, but because sunshine represents warmth, happiness and a positive way of life.
And while Sundale is changing, some things should never change: a warm welcome, the freedom to wander down to the lake, grass beneath your feet, mountains in the distance, and that wonderful feeling of finding somewhere you might like to return to.
We believe the best journeys leave room for sunshine, nature and freedom. They do not always need more. Sometimes they simply need space to breathe.
That is what we hope Sundale can become: not just somewhere you stay while visiting Wānaka, but somewhere that becomes part of how you remember it.
Because sometimes, where you stay is part of the journey.
Ready when you are
The lake is not going anywhere. Neither is the welcome.
Five minutes from the lake, under Mt Aspiring. Come and see what has changed, and what never will.
Come stay with us
