Visiting from Sundale
This is the walk for the end of the day. It starts at the western end of Roys Bay, about ten minutes from the park, and runs 2.5 km along the lake shore to Waterfall Creek, taking 30 to 60 minutes one way with no real climbing in it.
Wānaka Station Park comes up early and makes a good picnic stop, and the track passes Edgewater and Rippon Vineyard before it reaches the creek. It is flat underfoot, so ordinary shoes are fine. The DOC time is one way, so allow for the walk back or arrange a lift.
It runs straight into the longer Glendhu Bay Track if you find you want more, and it pairs well with a cellar door visit or dinner in town, ten minutes from the park. The Lake Wānaka foreshore is five minutes from your door if you want one last look at the water.
